New Zealand & Australia

Nobody bids blind.

Software projects, tendered properly. Buyers get proposals they can actually compare. Agencies get the criteria before they pay, and a debrief either way.

Free to post NZ$49 to unlock a brief flat success fee from $300 never a percentage

Everyone is guessing.

Tendering software work in New Zealand and Australia goes wrong on both sides of the table, in opposite directions. Agencies pitch into a void. Buyers get back a stack of documents that cannot be laid side by side.

Agencies quote blind
A vague brief with no budget and no stated priorities costs days of unbilled scoping to answer, and the answer is a guess at what the buyer actually wanted.
Buyers cannot compare what comes back
Six agencies send six differently-shaped documents, each answering a slightly different question. Comparing them is a spreadsheet the buyer has to build.
Nobody who loses is told why
Silence is the industry norm. An agency that spent a week on a proposal learns nothing from losing, so the next proposal is no better informed.

How it works

One process, seen from both sides. Nothing here happens off the record.

If you need work done

  1. Describe it onceA short wizard: what you need, a budget band, a timeline, and how much you weight experience, approach, price and speed. Roughly two minutes.
  2. A human reads itEvery brief is reviewed by a person before it opens. Posting is free and you are never committed to hiring anyone.
  3. Compare like with likeProposals arrive in one shape, answering your published criteria point by point, organised against the priorities you set — not ranked one to ten.
  4. You choose who to talk toYour identity and contact details stay yours until you reach out to a specific agency. Paying to compete never buys anyone your inbox.

If you do the work

  1. Read before you payScope, budget band, the deadline, the weighted criteria and how many agencies are already competing — all visible while you decide whether it is worth it.
  2. Pay a flat fee to competeNZ$49 at launch, NZ$99 standard. One flat fee per brief. No subscription, and no bidding for position.
  3. Answer the actual questionA structured response to the buyer’s published criteria — not a bespoke forty-page document — so the work is judged on what was asked rather than on who wrote the better deck.
  4. Find out where you stoodWhen the brief closes you get a debrief grounded in the buyer’s own criteria. Win, lose or no award — it is not optional for them.

Flat fees. Never a percentage.

Posting is free. Agencies pay a flat fee to compete, and the one that wins pays a flat success fee set by the budget band. We never take a cut of the contract, and we never touch the money that moves between you.

If you need work done

Free

Posting a brief, reading proposals, closing it out and hiring anyone you like. There is no buyer-side fee at any point.

If you do the work

NZ$49 per brief

NZ$99 standard. Paid once per brief you choose to compete for, after you have read it. Plus a flat success fee if you win:

What competing gets you is unchanged: the right to respond to a scoped, criteria-locked brief that a person has already checked — not a lead, and not somebody’s inbox. The success fee below is unchanged too, and it is still the only thing we earn from your work.

Success fee, paid only by the winning agency
Under $20k$300
$20k–$50k$600
$50k–$100k$1,200
$100k–$150k$2,000
Over $150k$3,000

The rules are published too

Open competition is only fair if everyone can see the terms before they commit. These are binding on us, not aspirations.

The weights cannot move
Once the first agency pays, the criteria and their weights are locked. A material change re-notifies every agency already competing.
The deadline is fixed
Every brief carries a published submission deadline. No indefinite open entry, and no quiet extensions for a latecomer.
You see the field before you pay
How many agencies have already unlocked the brief is shown at the moment you are deciding whether to spend anything.
Every valid proposal is put in front of the buyer
Competition is open rather than a capped shortlist, and nothing compliant and on time is silently buried.
Paying never reveals the buyer
An agency that pays to compete does not get the buyer’s contact details. The buyer reveals themselves when they choose to reach out, and not before.
Ghosting is not an available option
A brief that took anyone’s money must be closed formally, and a buyer cannot post again while one sits overdue. Closing it out is not the same as awarding it: “no award” is a valid outcome, and nobody is ever obliged to hire.

Who actually turns up

Every agency competing for your brief has cleared three gates and read the brief in full before answering it. They also chose to spend their own money on your project specifically, which is a narrower filter than an inbox.

A real, checkable company
Verified against the New Zealand Business Number register or the Australian Business Register, with a genuine local operating presence.
Insurance that actually exists
A current professional indemnity and public liability certificate, checked by a person — and required before an agency can unlock a single brief.
Buyers are checked too
A person reads every brief before it opens, and it carries a budget band, a deadline and published criteria. Nobody pays to answer a fishing expedition.
A clean record, and a real portfolio
No fraud, impersonation or delivery-related suspensions, and evidence of genuine software delivery rather than a landing page.
